Welcome to the homepage of the II Parthian Legion.

The significance of the II Parthian legion and the reign of Septimius Severus for the town of Albano is such that it gave rise to the idea of creating a study centre for this period of history approximately three years ago. Indeed this period, important as it may be for this particular locality, is important also within the study of Roman history in its own right. The International Centre for Severan Studies abbreviated to CSS, started in 1995, held several bi - monthly conferences and in May 1996 held its first International Conference.
Some of the papers presented can be found below, others will appear in due course and others will only appear in the publication of the Proceedings of the Conference which are due to be published later this year.
